Mary Pat Jacobs
Passionate about helping prospective students achieve their goals in higher education through clear and compelling communications, Mary Pat Jacobs launched Apply Point Admissions Consulting in New York City in 2011.
Prior to founding Apply Point, Mary Pat served on the admissions committee of a top-tier graduate business program as the Associate Director of MBA Admissions. In this role, she evaluated hundreds of applications each year, conducted in-depth interviews of viable candidates, and led presentations and panel discussions in cities around the world on the topic of admissions for audiences of prospective students.
Before her career in graduate admissions, Mary Pat worked as a writer and editor in various capacities including public relations and speech writing as well as print and broadcast news. In these roles, she enjoyed composing a diverse set of deliverables that ranged from executive speeches and broadcast news stories to syndicated articles, press releases, and annual reports. She also conducted media training seminars for executive management teams. In her free time, she enjoys writing essays and personal profile stories and has contributed to the Oprah Winfrey Show as well as Quest, the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s national magazine. Mary Pat has a Master of Business Administration from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri’s renowned School of Journalism.
She is a member of the Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants.
